One Minnesota + One Wisconsin City Ranks In Best Places To Travel Alone In The U.S.
Looks like there is one destination in the Land of 10,000 Lakes and the Badger State that people like to travel alone in.
While traveling, some people like to bring as little as possible with them. To some, that might mean traveling alone. The website Travel & Leisure just released "Solo Vacations: The 20 Best Places to Travel Alone in the United States".
The website went on to say that traveling is not for everyone. However, they made some good points like sometimes it's hard to travel with someone who might not want to do the things you want to do. Or maybe you're afraid that your traveling companion might complain the whole time.
Planning a solo trip gives you the freedom to do things you want to do. Meet some locals and go on an adventure. Or maybe your trip may be close to home so you don't have to worry about something crazy happening.
Before we dive into which Minnesota and Wisconsin towns made the list, here are the other 18 cities that are apparently safe and fun to travel alone (in alphabetical order):
- Asheville, North Carolina
- Boise, Idaho
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Boulder, Colorado
- Caramel-by-the-Sea, California
- Charleston, South Carolina
- Fort Collins, Colorado
- Hot Springs, Alaska
- Jackson Hole, Wyoming
- Naples, FL
- Nashville, Tennessee
- Portland, Oregon
- Portland, Maine
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- San Francisco, CA
- Savannah, Georgia
- Seattle, Washington
- Sedona, Arizona
According to the list, the best city to safely travel alone in Minnesota to make the list was:
Minneapolis
However, if you ask rock star Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, it is very hard to find a bathroom in downtown Minneapolis. He shared on social media his crazy experience over this past weekend.
The website went on to talk about Minneapolis's architecture, hotel scene, bike paths, and "perfect" summertime lake dips: :
The city's love of design is also noticeable in the hotel scene, where sophistication meets Midwestern hospitality. So, while it's perfectly acceptable to wander through the city looking up, you don't want to miss a cruise on one of the famous bike paths, which wind past lakes that are perfect for a dip in the summertime.
Over across the border, Wisconsin got a safe travel destination in the top 20:
Bayfield
A great choice. I've traveled to Bayfield to DJ some weddings and spend time at the annual Apple Fest. Here's what the website had to say about the Wisconsin town:
Located on the shores of Lake Superior, and home to quaint B&Bs and beautiful Victorian homes, Bayfield is a warm and welcoming coastal destination. Solo travelers can roam the intimate downtown or head to the nearby Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, best known for its series of caves that freeze during the winter months.
There you have it, if you are thinking of traveling alone, apparently these are some great places to start.
