Pilot Survives Shocking Plane Crash into Minnesota Lake
It’s not every day you hear about a plane going down in a lake, but that’s exactly what happened in rural Northern Minnesota yesterday.
Just after 2 PM on October 8th, the Cass County Sheriff's Office started getting reports of a plane crash on a lake near Remer. When authorities arrived on the scene, they immediately got to work trying to find the pilot and investigate the scene.

Texas Pilot Wrecks Plane in Minnesota Lake
The plane went down in the southern part of Inguadona Lake, located in Trelipe Township, approximately 115 miles—or a two-and-a-half-hour drive—west of Duluth.
First responders and Sheriff's deputies discovered that the pilot, a 56-year-old man from Texas, had already been rescued from the wreckage. The pilot was the only passenger in the plane, he was treated on the scene for minor injuries.
Routine Flight Ends in Crash
It turns out that the plane is contacted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for fire suppression. The pilot was performing a routine proficiency flight with the plane when it went down in the lake.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office says that crews are busy trying to recover the aircraft wreckage and any other components on the lake bed.
The Investigation Has Started
The incident is being investigated by The Federal Aviation Administration, The National Transportation Safety Board, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
