As predicted, places along the Lake Superior shoreline got hit pretty hard by an incoming snowstorm to wrap up the week, with a combination of heavy snow and strong wind gusts on Thursday evening and early Friday morning.

The "good news" is that while travel was made difficult by this week's storm and many schools in Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin ended up closing or having other weather-related schedule adjustments, it wasn't quite as bad as the storm from a few weeks ago.

Comparing this week's storm to the blizzard from February, we saw generally lower snow totals compared to that storm and somewhat less aggressive wind gusts compared to that February blizzard.

This week's storm still wasn't nice.

Wind gusts got to near 50 mph in places along the shoreline, with a spot in the Twin Ports area seeing a gust of 56 mph. Snow totals also were enough to cause issues for travel on Friday morning, with plenty of places seeing nearly a foot of snow around Lake Superior, with some places exceeding that amount.

The combination of wind and snow led to the North Shore, Duluth area, and Carlton County all being under a blizzard warning for this snowmaker.

As I am writing this, there are still some snow chances yet on Friday, so these totals will increase in some places, and I'll update them as new numbers come in. In the meantime, here's a look at the latest reported snow totals across the Northland as the last snow chances for the day wrap up.
