This Minnesota State Fair Staple Just Switched Back To MN Potatoes

If you have already gone to the Great Minnesota Get-Together, you may have left a little disappointed. Online forums have people posting about the change to the Fresh French Fries stand, and it wasn't a positive change. The good news is that the stand heard you, and they've already adjusted.

Fresh French Fries Switches Back To MN Grown

Over the first couple of days of the Minnesota State Fair, plenty of people covered the new foods being offered this year. One of the regular State Fair staples for many Minnesotans is the bright red and yellow Fresh French Fries stand, and from opening day until the first weekend, people were saying something seemed off about the fries.

Gone were the crispy golden fries, and people complained of the stale taste when they dug into a cup. It turns out that the vendor had opted for potatoes from Colorado, which apparently weren't cutting it with customers.

A sub-Reddit page devoted to the Minnesota State Fair reported yesterday that the Fresh French Fries booth has changed back to Minnesota-grown potatoes, and the change was instant, with people saying the taste was back!

Central Minnesotans Should Be Familiar With These Potatoes

Actually, according to the same Reddit post, the potatoes that were brought in were from Big Lake. A photo from Jason DeRusha was shared to the group, showing that the potatoes being used are coming from the Hayes Farm in Big Lake!

So if you haven't visited the Minnesota State Fair yet, and you've got the hankering for some fresh fries, know the red and yellow stand is back serving made-in-Minnesota potatoes, and they might just be from Big Lake!
