Minnesotans Can Celebrate Four 3 Day Weekends in 2026
So, anytime I can have a 3-4 day weekend with using either none or just one day of PTO, I am on board for that. It's a great way to take a long weekend without using a bunch of your vacation and make sure you have enough to last the year until it resets at the beginning of the year. If you happen to be at a job where your vacation resets at your anniversary date - lucky you. Most people work at jobs where it resets at the beginnng of the calendar year, and also accrues as you work. Like you get X amount of vacation for every month you are employed.
YOU HAVE TO LOVE IT WHEN THE CALENDAR WORKS IN YOUR FAVOR
So, when the calendar works out, and the normal Federal holidays fall on or right before a weekend, this is a major score!
This year, there are four weekends that automatically give workers a 3 day weekend. That's two more than ususal.
HERE ARE THE FOUR THREE DAY WEEKENDS WE GET THIS SUMMER
Memorial Day, always the last Monday of May. That one is normal. And gives us a three day weekend. It is obviously the day that we remember our military who have fallen. It is also the unofficial kickoff to Summer.
Juneteenth. That is June 19th. It falls on a Friday. Granted, it's a Federal holiday that not all of us get as a day off, but if you do, automatic 3 day weekend.
Fourth of July. This one falls on a Saturday, which means you get either the 3rd or the 6th off. Probably Friday, the 3rd. But some places will let their employees make the choice between the two days. Either way - automatic 3 day weekend.
Next up - Labor Day. This one is always the first Monday in September. That one is also a normal 3 day weekend. So just add that one to the other 3 and we have four 3 day weekends this summer. Start planning some getaways!
IT'S GREAT TO HAVE 3 DAY WEEKENDS THAT CAN TURN INTO 4 DAY WEEKENDS
This way, you can make the most of your weekends and holidays without using too much vacation. Love that!
