It's been well known for a few years now that you don't have to go through all the pain of the TSA when traveling.  All you need to do is register for the TSA precheck.  You sign up by logging onto the precheck website, get your picture and your information registered, pay a fee that lasts for five years, and if approved, you're golden!  So much faster to get through security at the airport.  That was, until so many people caught on to this deal and now the precheck line is almost as long as the regular one.  However, it isn't as tedious.

Now, it has gotten even easier, or at least hopefully quicker to get through the TSA.  You just need top opt in for this service.  What is it?  It's contactless TSA precheck.

TSA PreCheck Touchless ID enhances the security screening process with facial comparison technology for faster, more efficient identity verification. TSA PreCheck travelers with a valid passport can opt in with participating airlines or Google Wallet to move through dedicated lanes with ease, enjoying a smoother and more convenient airport experience—an effortless way to start your travels.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE ELEIGBLE OR NOT AND TO SIGN UP

There are a few things that you have to do to be eligible for this relatively new service.  First, you do need to already be a registerd pre-check traveler with a valid passport.  You need to have a valid passport on file even if you are flying domestically.  Then you also have an active airline profile with a participating airline (most of the main airlines) or Google Wallet user.

To opt in for this service, there are just a couple of steps to go through and done!

  1. Enter valid passport number and country
  2. Select “OPT IN” on your profile or at airline check-in
  3. Once TSA confirms your enrollment, a TSA PreCheck Touchless ID indicator will appear on your boarding pass, meaning you’re ready to use the dedicated TSA PreCheck Touchless ID lanes at the airport.

The airlines that are participating are basically all of the major airlines such as Delta, American, Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian, Southwest and United airlines all have the service available.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF EVERYTHING IS WORKING CORRECTLY

It's easy to check your digital boarding pass to make sure you have the service.  It will appear on the boarding pass with the touchless precheck indicator.  It will be checked quickly as you enter the contactless tsa precheck line.  It's probably a good idea to bring a physical ID with you because not everything is fool-proof.  It's a good "just in case" rule.
