23-year-old Tonya Yarmakov was last seen on September 4. Authorities say she is autistic and a type-one diabetic.
A news release issued at the time of her disappearance by the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office says Yarmakov’s family reported last seeing her when they went out fishing on a lake in Savanna Portage State Park in McGregor, which is about 50 miles west of Duluth, on September 4.
Family members said they left her alone on a dock and saw her run from the spot they left her. The family began searching for her and alerted park staff for help, authorities say.
Park staff then contacted law enforcement about 90 minutes after the young woman’s disappearance, the news release said. Yarmakov was last seen wearing a rainbow tie-dyed T-shirt, gym shorts, black shoes and black headphones.
The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office says as of September 10 members of multiple search and rescue agencies have logged more than 2200 combined hours looking for her.
Anyone who has information on the young woman’s disappearance is asked to call the hotline phone number at 188-900-2138 or email helpfindtonya@mail.com.
