MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is the NBA's Western Conference player of the week for the opening week of the season.

Love leads the NBA with 29.7 points per game and is second with 14.7 rebounds per game. He powered the Wolves to three victories last week for their first 3-0 start since 2001. His off-balance, one-handed bank shot at Madison Square Garden on Monday night helped the Wolves hold off Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks.

The league also issued Love a warning for flopping in the game against the Knicks. Love was warned for flopping when Knicks rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. bumped him at the top of the key in the fourth quarter.

Wolves forward Corey Brewer also received a flopping warning from the game.
