Just a couple of days ago a video was released of the police incident involving George Floyd that appears to have led to his death.  If you haven't seen it yet, I will warn you that it's tough to watch.

I have several police officer friends who agree that what happened should not have.  Even just as a decent human being you can't argue that the video shows beyond out of line behavior on the part of the now finally under arrest Derek Chauvin.  I'm disgusted, I'm outraged, and I'm sad.  Human life is precious and while I understand that officers have a job to do, there is a right way and a wrong one.  In dealing with George Floyd, they were wrong.

I received an event invite today via Facebook that I wanted to share.  It won't bring George Floyd back, and it doesn't fix the deeper issues that our society has.  It is being organized to honor George Floyd by the Duluth Branch of the NAACP.  The event is one that anyone can participate in, even outside of the Twin Ports.  At 9:25PM, on Friday, May 29th, everyone is invited to light a candle for George.

If you have the ability tonight, take a moment to reflect on the life of George Floyd.  You probably didn't know him personally but it's a good opportunity to reflect and honor someone who was taken too soon and in the wrong way.  The link to the event is here.
