Minnesota Vikings Draft QB Christian Ponder

With the twelve pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the Minnesota Vikings select Christian Ponder from Florida State.  Ponder had a 22-13 record as a starter in four seasons at Florida State and is known for his intelligence -- he earned his undergraduate degree in 2.5 years and obtained his master's degree before his senior season.

The Vikings have only taken two QB's in the first round in it's 51 year history, Tommy Kramer (1977) and Daunte Culpepper (1999).

The Vikes could still go after a veteran QB to play for a year or 2 while Ponder learns the Vikings system, rumors still have the Vikings interested in Donovan McNabb.  Only time will tell.
