I can't lie. This is a little bit surprising! A new study just ranked states depending on how great they are for UFO lovers. Sadly, Minnesota and Wisconsin ranked low.

I feel surprised by this because there are multiple UFO sightings in both of these states, and in the Northland, on any given year. There is even an annual weekend-long festival in Elmwood, Wisconsin every year that brings in people from all over.

UFO events aside, there are also UFO sightings in the wild. There have been many over the years. Just a few months ago, a Hibbing resident spotted a large UFO creature in the sky. The sighting happened in May.

There are even alien sightings right here in Duluth. Last summer, a Duluthian claims they saw a supernatural streak in the sky near Lake Superior. This is one example of many of all the UFO and supernatural sightings that happen in the Northland. You'd think with so many here, there'd be even more across the state.

It must just be that other states have more sightings because we ranked pretty low on the list of states best for UFO lovers! Yes, this is a real study that was done on Wednesday (September 28th) by lawnlove.com.

So what gives? The study looked at things like sightings, communication tower registrations (which sounds very advanced) and Air Force base listings. Like the one mentioned earlier, they also looked at number of UFO conventions, clubs and the like.

Once you factor in all these things, Minnesota and Wisconsin fell by the wayside! Minnesota came in at number thirty-one and Wisconsin at number twenty-seven. It should be noted that other factors in the study included "sighting potential rank" so it may just be that we don't have all the extraterrestrial hotbeds like other states.

If you love UFOs and want a sighting, head to California, as they came in at number one. Rounding out the top five is Texas, Florida, New York and Arizona. As for the worst states, they tend to be on the less-populated side, with states like Wyoming, the Dakotas and Vermont rounding out the bottom of the list.

Other fun facts? California has the most UFO sightings and Wyoming has the least. (I used to live in Wyoming and it's just so wide open and isolated, I never saw anything spooky there but it does have a lot of haunted places!) Places like Montana and New Mexico clearly need more UFO clubs and conventions.

While you have to take this silly study with a grain of salt, it was pretty fun to read about how they came up with their final list. I just thought we'd rank way higher on the list!
