Motorhead Madness Will Return to DECC in 2022
Last month I reported that the Motorhead Madness event that had a 50+ plus year run was coming to end. Well, that all changed today.
Just before noon today, the official Motorhead Madness event page on Facebook posted a surprise message saying that the popular event for Northland car enthusiasts would return for its 52nd year on March 19th and 20th, 2022 at the DECC.
The update doesn't give much information about the upcoming event, the only message on the official website says, "We are pleased to announce that Motorhead Madness will be returning to the DECC for the 52nd year under new ownership. Please stay tuned for forthcoming updates and details.
The pandemic canceled last year's event and before the announcement of the event coming to an end, the event was canceled for 2021, but now motorheads around the Twin Ports can look forward to its return next spring.
In January when previous owner Jack DeJoy decided to end the event he said, "We would like to thank you for all the years of memories, fun, and support of Motorhead Madness! The car owners, club support, commercial vendors, sponsors, and attendees have meant so much to all of us over the years."
Not only was the pandemic a factor in his decision to end the event, but the death of his wife, Joyce, and friend David Swanson, both of who were very involved in the planning and evacuation of the event, also was part of the thought process. Now the event can live on and be a tribute to those two.
