So lately I've had a change of heart if you will, on the whole New Year's Resolution thing. In the past, I've been pretty much against making any New Year's Resolutions at all, because I know myself, and I know that I will eventually break what I set out to resolve. But, I do have an idea that you might want to try if you have this same problem.

Now this is just my idea, and my suggestion. This might not work for everyone, as with anything, proceed with caution, consult your doctor, blah, blah, blah...

If you truly want something, and are ready for a change, like weight loss or to quit smoking, you know it. You need to be ready for it 100% mind and body, because you can lie to your friends and family about what you had to eat today, or how many cigarettes you did or didn't smoke, but, you can't lie to yourself.

Ideas that I've heard in the past were to get on social media, tell everyone, get a buddy system going. Those ideas are great and may work for some.

My idea is, don't tell anyone. Not to steal a corporate slogan, but, just do it. And do it for yourself. Set your New Year's Resolution up in your own mind for what you want to accomplish for the year, and do it.

One tip, (if your goal is weight loss), what you could do is to write down what your weight was on 1/1/17, on a home calendar on 12/31/17, so you then weigh yourself at the end of the year and see how much you've lost. Maybe you ought to weight in before the holidays next year...

My basic message is this, if you put your mind to it you can do it! Now get off the computer!
