New Pizzeria In Superior Hit With Fake Facebook Scam

I wish I could say this was surprising but in this day and age, it really isn't. Scammers seem to be trying to take advantage of just about everyone these days.

The latest business to be hit by unwanted scammers? Ride Or Die Pizzeria. The pizzeria is a new addition to Superior, Wisconsin. News of the new restaurant broke in June of this year, when owners of the spot shared that they would be opening soon in the Twin Ports.

The new pizzeria opened shortly after news of the new spot. They offer delivery, carry-out and delivery. They also have a full bar, live music and a pool table. It is located where the old Thirsty Pagan location used to be.

So far, it has been very popular, offering great food and entertainment while customers eat their food! Unfortunately, this popularity has made them a target for scammers.

The owners of the new spot shared news about the scam on Facebook Wednesday (September 8th), writing that someone is posing as the business on the social media site.

According to their post, someone made a fake Facebook account and have been trying to add customers of the page that way. As owners of Ride Or Die Pizzeria point out in their post, they have a business Facebook page, which you "like" in order to follow, not that you add as a friend. This is a good way to tell that something like this is a scam.

Their post, shown above, also hints at scammers asking customers for their credit card information after adding them on the fake Facebook account. It is never a good idea to give out personal information or banking information over the internet.

If you haven't checked out the new spot yet, you should add it to your list! The restaurant has received favorable reviews and looks like a great new addition to the Twin Ports.

Sadly, a similar scam has hit other businesses in the Twin Ports. Back in July, Visit Duluth shared a similar sentiment. At the time, they said someone made a fake Facebook account meant to imitate Visit Duluth's business page and was trying to add people. Scammers were also messaging residents, claiming they won a prize in an effort to scam them.

A new bakery in the Miller Hill Mall was also victim to the same exact scam. Something Sweet By Maddie Lu was hit by a scammer, with the owner herself warning customers not to add the fake account on Facebook.
