A brand of pre-packaged ground beef is being recalled due to contamination with extraneous materials.  According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the Amity Packing Company based in Chicago is voluntarily recalling more than 2,000 pounds of their one-pound packages of ground beef sold under the Pre-brand.  The recall affects retailers in nine states including Wisconsin.

The concern arose from two customer complaints - both of which reported finding  "clear, thin pliable plastic" in the ground beef.  While no one has gotten sick this point, Amity Packing isn't taking chances and has issued the recall.

Here are the specific details about the packages being recalled - according to the USDA:

1-lb. VACUUM-PACKED, packages containing “Pre 95% LEAN/5% FAT GROUND BEEF” with lot code “0060,” case code “11402” and USE/FREEZE BY date of “01/31/2020” on the product label.  The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 6916” printed on the right, front side of the package.
