Rush Guitarist Alex Lifeson Is Auctioning His Guitars + Memorabilia

Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson's guitars and other memorabilia are set to be auctioned off in the "Property From The Archives of Alex Lifeson" auction for Julien's Auctions. The legendary guitarist has offered up some of his prized guitars, photographs and even original lyric sheets as part of this auction.

Alex Lifeson received his very first guitar for Christmas when he was 13-years-old in 1953, and he went on to co-found a band called The Projection in 1968 according to  Julien's Auctions. Some members of the band were replaced by Neil Peart and Geddy Lee in 1974 and that band became Rush.

The Rush guitarist was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 and Rush "ranks fifth for most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums, after the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kiss and Aerosmith."

Over 60 of Alex Lifeson's vintage guitars as well as his original lyric sheets, photographs, tour ephemera and passes are set to be auctioned off. Some of the Rush guitarist's guitars that are going to the in the auction include:

• A 1976 custom-built Gibson ES-355TD "Whitey" that was played by Lifeson during all Rush tours from 1977 to 2015 and has been featured on albums and music videos
• A 1976 Gibson Dove acoustic guitar that Lifeson used to write "Closer to the Heart"
• A 1980 custom Hentor Sportscaster that's Lifeson loved to solo with, including the solo on the song "Limelight" and has been in the music videos for "Vital," "Countdown," and "Enemy Within"
