Slash, in a video explaining his early need for a doubleneck guitar to properly perform dual sections in Guns N' Roses' classic Bob Dylan cover "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," has introduced his new signature model instrument with guitar maker Gibson, the Slash 1966 EDS-1275 Doubleneck.

The model will be available at select Gibson dealers worldwide starting October 1. In the associated clip, the Guns N' Roses guitarist who also performs with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators remembered how he obtained his original Gibson doubleneck from a small music store in Indiana in 1990. "Excited to announce that I've partnered with Gibson to offer an incredible copy of my 1966 EDS-1275 Doubleneck, limited edition and signed," Slash said in a press release.

Gibson chief merchant officer Cesar Gueikian added, "Slash continues to inspire legions of players all over the globe. The creation of new 1966 EDS-1275 Doubleneck is the perfect way to pay homage to Slash's extreme talent and share a favorite guitar with generations to come."

Now, guitar-adept fans will be privy to the exact replica's twelve-string neck in addition to its standard six-string configuration. Constructed and specially aged at the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, each Slash 1966 EDS-1275 Doubleneck will also be hand-signed by Slash himself and comes with a vintage replica hardshell case, custom Slash guitar strap and a certificate of authenticity.

The instrument's specifications include a one-piece solid mahogany neck paired with a solid mahogany body, nitrocellulose lacquer finish, and an Indian rosewood fretboard atop the Authentic '66 Medium C-Shape neck profile. Electronics in the guitar are driven by Custombucker Alnico II pickups.
