Superior’s COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Gets A New Location
Looking to get a COVID-19 vaccine in Superior? You might need to go to a different location starting next week.
Officials with Superior's Community COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic have announced a change of venue as of Tuesday, December 21. In an effort to expand the services available, the clinic is moving from its current location on the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus in the Yellowjacket Union to the conference center at Northwood Technical College.
The change in venue is a friendly one.
According to Douglas County Public Health Officer Kathy Ronchi in an article in the Superior Telegram [paywall], the move will allow better general spacing for patients getting their vaccines:
"UWS has been a tremendous host, but they just didn't have enough space, so we're really, really thankful (Northwood Tech) is letting us have it there."
That additional space is needed now more than in the past as the eligibility opens up for the COVID-19 vaccine shot. Current conditions allow for younger children and the facility is seeing entire families come at one time to get their vaccines. With "more people seeking vaccines, the available space at the University of Wisconsin-Superior (wasn't allowing) for the spacing needed with COVID-19".
At the same time, the new venue at Northwood Technical College also allows for an easier access. In addition to its larger size, the parking lot is located right off of the parking lot. Both of those considerations bring improvements for both younger families with children and for seniors - with less distance to walk to get inside.
To schedule an appointment at the Superior Community COVID-19 Clinic, go to their website: vaccinate.wi.gov/en-US. The Northwood Technical College is located at 600 N 21st Street in Superior. Parking is available "in the lot off Catlin Avenue near the conference center doors".
