The 2015 playoff and tournament season is here, as the boys hockey section playoffs start this week. Several Twin Ports area teams find themselves in the top of the latest state rankings, with hopes to make it to the Xcel Energy Center the first week of March. Here is how things look for each of the area teams in their respective section brackets.

Head Coach John Randolph of the Duluth East Greyhounds and Kevin Smalley of the Duluth Denfeld Hunters were named winners of the John Mariucci Award during Hockey Championship Weekend in St. Paul.
The 2013 Lake Superior All-Conference Team was recently announced, and the roster features many big names from local section playoff action. Six Hermantown Hawks, five C-E-C Lumberjacks, Four Denfeld Hunters, two Superior Spartans make up this year's first team, second team, and honorable mention.

Minnesota Boys Hockey Section Championship week has the Denfeld Hunters and Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers facing off Wednesday night in the 7A Championship and the Duluth East Greyhounds taking on the Thunderhawks of Grand Rapids in the 7AA Championship on Thursday.
Five Duluth area teams remain in the race for a Minnesota Boys Hockey Tournament bid, including Hermantown, Duluth Denfeld, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, Duluth Marshall, and Duluth East. All five of these teams will be in action Saturday, and ESPN 560 WEBC will have coverage of some of the action.
