Once again baseball is in the headlines for the wrong reasons. No shocker here that it is about PED's. The True question is should we care anymore? Baseball will never be "totally" clean, the record books are already tarnished, and Cooperstown has locked it's doors for this years Hall of Fame class.

I did a story last year about this same issue, but I would like to dig a little deeper into the context of it. I fell in love with baseball at the age of seven, because of Sammy Sosa and his chase with Mark McGwire for Roger Maris's infamous record of 61 home runs in one season.

  The Star Tribune is reporting that Twins players Jason Kubel and Jim Thome have been put on trade waivers by the team. Players need to be placed on waivers in order to be traded in August, and teams have the option of pulling them back if other teams make a claim. The Minnesota Twins’ Jim Thome hit his 600th career home run on Monday night, making him just the eighth player in Major League Baseball history to reach that mark. The 40-year-old slugged his 599th and 600th dingers in consecutive innings of the Twins’ 9-5 win against the Detroit Tigers.

After a big game from Michael Cuddyer and Delmon Young in an 11-4 win over the Angels on Wednesday, the Twins were only able to muster one run in a 1-7 rout Thursday. The only run the Twins managed came from the bat of Jim Thome, who hit is 598th career home run. This puts Thome only two homers away from becoming the 8th major league player to reach such a mark.

This story is coming from somewhere in Ohio, as I am currently living the road trippers dream with McDonald's wrappers spread all over the car floor, and on my way to see first hand Bert Blyleven give his induction speech in Cooperstown this coming Sunday, but what this story is really about is what happened last Sunday.
