Sunday December 1 was a big evening in Burnsville as young women form all over the state of Minnesota competed in the Miss Minnesota Teen USA Pageant. The crown went to Gwendolyn Buchanan of Duluth! A panel of judges selected Buchanan as the winner who will now compete representing Minnesota in the Miss Teen USA national pageant.

According to WDIO the annual competition consists of three categories: evening gown, swimwear/activewear, and an interview.  Pageant organizers say Buchanan will receive thousands of dollars in prizes and awards.

According to its website, the  Miss Teen USA beauty pageant aims to "empower women to be self-confident and strive to be their personal best.  The pageant  provides an international platform through dedicated partnerships with charities, sponsors, and brands around the world. During their reign, winners are given the tools to personally and professionally enrich others by providing humanitarian efforts to affect positive change, all while developing their personal career goals."

Taylor Fondie of Ham Lake was also selected Sunday as Miss Minnesota USA. Congratulations to both winners as we know they will do an excellent job representing Minnesota on a National Platform.
