Whenever you have an emergency, it's common knowledge to call 911.  However that can be challenge at times, especially for those who are who are deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing. Text-to-911 is now an important alternative to calling 911 in an emergency.

Now, everyone will have the ability to get the help they need thanks to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Emergency Communication Networks Division, who worked closely with Minnesota's independent Commission of Deaf, DeafBlind & Hard of Hearing Minnesotans and the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division to bring Text-to-911 to all Minnesotans across all 87 Minnesota counties.

Text-to-911 is reserved as a first option for people who are deaf, deafblind, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability and it also provides a way to get help when a person in danger needs to discretely contact emergency services or is unable to call for any reason.
