The rock duo "Tenacious D" is celebrating its 20th Anniversary together by adding dates to its 2022 tour including a stop in Minnesota. The duo Tenacious D whose name came from a phrase used by an NBA broadcaster who was talking about a defensive play. Jack Black and Kyle Gass both actors formed the group in 1994 in Los Angeles.

The then fictional band had a show for three seasons on HBO with many guest musicians making appearances on their show. They did get an album deal back in 2001 signing with EPIC Records along with a full band including former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl.

In November of 2006, they starred in their own film, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, which did not see much success at the box office making less money than it cost to make but the band became very popular playing sold-out stadiums all over the country. Over the years the band has worked on new music and videos along with touring while Jack Black has continued acting starring in many major motion pictures. According to Bring Me The News self-dubbed "The Greatest Band in History" will perform with DJ Douggpound at Surly Brewing Festival Field on Monday, Sept. 19.
