The 37-year-old Mike Yeo who guided the AHL Houston Aeros to within a game of the Calder Cup this spring and hoisted the Stanley Cup as a member of Pittsburgh's staff in 2009, was introduced as Minnesota's third head coach at Xcel Energy Center. Yeo beat out several other candidates who had multiple years as a head coach behind an NHL bench, including Craig MacTavish and Ken Hitchcock.

Yeo, who is even younger than former coach Todd Richards, and was in high school at the same time as players Andrew Brunette and John Madden, called the opportunity to become an NHL head coach a dream come true. Rick Wilson will be back next season, as will goaltending coach Bob Mason. The rest of the staff is Yeo's decision.
