Week one of college football is in the books, and UMD's 45-20 performance over Southwest Minnesota State held them in the preseason position in the American Football Coaches Association Division II poll.

The Bulldogs entered the season ranked number 2, behind the reigning national champion Pittsburgh State University. After one week of action, the AFCA D-II poll holds UMD exactly where it was to start the season. Their position in the poll makes them the only NSIC team to be in the top 25 rankings for D-II football.

Fellow NSIC members St. Cloud State University, Minnesota State University-Mankato, University of Sioux Falls and Winona State University all received votes in the poll, but not enough to make a top appearance.

UMD holds their home opener this weekend, welcoming Winona State to Malosky Stadium on September 8th at 6pm.
