USDA Identifies Seeds in Mysterious Packages From China
You could say 2020 is just getting stranger, but at this point we kinda just throw our arms up in the air and say, "What's next?" Then people across the US including locally have been receiving strange mysterious packages from China that contained seeds. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA0 and Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) quickly advised people not to plant those seeds and to contact them.
What are those seeds? Is it some type of agriculture attack on the United States? People were concerned, and obviously with COVID-19, we don't want to deal with anything else right now. The USDA worked to identify what the seeds actually are, and have shared the results. According to The Independent there are 14 different species of seeds including mustard seeds, cabbage seeds, and morning glory. Along with that are different herbs including rosemary, sage, mint, lavender and others.
The USDA doesn't think it's a malicious attack, but rather part of an online money-making scam that came from china. They're called 'brushing scams' where people received items from a seller that then posts false customer reviews to help their sales.
The USDA and MDA are asking people to contact them if they recieved seeds so they can investigate. They say to keep the seeds in a dry place away from kids and pets until they can collect them. Fortunately so far nothing evil is indicated in this weird news. I'm not even going to ask what is going to happen next this year. Let's just leave it be.
