That's a lot of 7's.  And a lot of shots.  The University of Wisconsin-Superior has attained their 70% vaccination rate goal among registered students, fulfilling a statewide mission.

The news comes as part of an update on the University of Wisconsin-System's "70 for 70" campaign.  Under that mission, "fully vaccinated students who attend universities that reach the 70 percent threshold - based on fall 2020 full-time equivalent enrollment....are eligible to win one of 70 scholarships valued at $7,000".  The campaign numbers exclude those students who are studying only online.

University leadership at both the state and the local level had thankful words to say about the level of success that they've achieved and for the students who got them there.  University of Wisconsin-System President Tommy Thompson shared that "[t]his is quite an accomplishment for the students of UW-Superior and a sign of the hard work and commitment of the university's staff and administration".

Meanwhile, UW-Superior Chancellor Dr. Rene Wachter also had words of praise for the local students on campus.  "I cannot express how proud I am of our students.  Reaching this milestone will go a long way in ensuring a strong and vibrant campus".

Now that Superior students have attained the 70-percent vaccination threshold, they join other campuses throughout the UW-System who have as well.  "UW-Eau Claire, UW-Green Bay, UW-La Crosse, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Oshkosh, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, and UW-Whitewater have already reached the 70 percent  threshold.  UW-Madison, which is running its own vaccination campaign, has a student vaccination rate over 90 percent'.

While the schools have met the projected threshold number, the UW-System has extended the deadline for its Vax Up! "70 for 70" Campaign to "encourage students to become vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.  The new deadline is October 31, 2021".
