I will say this, the Miami Heat are the best team in the NBA, but even with that said I am not completely convinced that this team will win the championship next week. Every other game the Heat are either up or down. And championship quality teams do not play that way.

Since LeBron James moved to South Beach the Heat have been to three straight NBA Finals appearances, and the comparisons between Michael Jordan Bulls teams of the 90's and the Heat have surfaced, and I will say this; there is no way you can even say those two teams in the same breath let alone compare them.

The Heat might be on the cusp of being the next dynasty, but they can't even touch what the Bulls did in the 90's. In the 90's Jordan's Bulls ran through every competition they faced, the Heat on the other hand, have gone to game seven in the Eastern Conference finals twice now, and are having a difficult time trying to shut down the old Spurs team. The Heat are a more dominant team, and when they "flip the switch" no team can even keep up with them, but why are they so off? Could Dwyane Wade be holding down James? Or could their be a chemistry problem?

All those could be the reason, but once James career is over he might never be remembered for creating a dynasty like MJ or even Kobe Bryant. Even if the Heat win this series they won't be remembered for crushing the Spurs, but be remembered for the team that took nights off during the finals, and dynasties never take nights off. If the Heat did just absolutely ran away with this series you could have made a case that James "not one, not two....etc" is coming to fruition, but now you might be wondering if he will ever get to two championships. If the Heat do indeed lose this series, which would make it two finals they have lost in three years, they might have to redo the roster. I know winning one championship is great, heck every team not named the Lakers, and or the Celtics would love to just win one championship, but for the Heat it was about creating a dynasty, you can't create a dynasty by losing more championships than you win, just look at the 90's Utah Jazz who went two straight NBA finals but came up empty handed; and they had two Hall of Fame players on that roster, yet they are not even mentioned in the category of dynasties.

If the trend in the finals continue it would mean the Spurs win it in seven, and if that happens there will be an earthquake felt all along the South shore of Florida, because this was the team that almost chased down the 1971 Los Angeles Lakers winning streak of 33 games this season. How could a team be so dominate in the regular season and then come up so flat during the playoffs? One explanation could be that this team is tired. No team or players have played more basketball than LeBron James, D-Wade or Chris Bosh, because not only have those three played in three straight NBA finals, but James even played in the Olympics last year, so fatigue could be setting in.

As a sports nation we might be on the cusp of watching another dynasty form, or we might be seeing the hated empire on South Beach crumble before our eyes. Hate them or love them the Heat are a good team, but great teams know how to close out series, and we have yet to see the Heat play back-to-back quality games against the Spurs, and when they can do that then we can start talking about a dynasty, but for now lets just call them a good team with the talent to be great.
