Captain Marvel explains what the story was with that weird pager that Nick Fury had at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. It’s Fury’s way of contacting Carol Danvers if he ever needs her help in an “emergency.” Definitely Thanos showing up and wiping out half the universe qualifies. But the Avengers and Fury have arguably faced several huge emergencies before — like the invasion of New York but a bunch of giant flying space worms, and the destruction of an entire European country by an army of sentient robots. So why did Nick Fury wait so long to call Captain Marvel?

This new video by ScreenCrush’s Ryan Arey lays out all the reasons why Fury may have held his trump card back for so long. Have another theory why he did? Leave us a message in the comments below.
