World Record To Be Attempted At Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park
Duluth is very well known as a holiday destination. With the Christmas City of the North parade being an annual tradition for decades and the Bentleyville Tour of Lights that draws hundreds of thousands of people.
Bentleyville is home to Minnesota's largest Christmas tree. Now, there is another holiday-themed record that could be broken that has to do with that tree. Between August 5th and 7th, community members are invited to hang a candy cane on the tree to be erected in Bayfront Festival Park. The goal is to hang 8000 candy canes. If they can get that many, Duluth will be in the record books.
When I talked to Don Liimatainen of 'Best Christmas Ever', I asked him what people have to do to get involved. He said "We will have candy canes on hand for a suggested donation of $1 a piece". He went on to say " BCE will be there all 3 days of the concert while for King and Country and City on the hill music festival are running."
Here are the times that Best Christmas Ever will be there: 5-10 pm on August 5, and 2-10 PM on the 6th & 7th. There will be a giant tree at the front of Bayfront as you walk into the event. Right now, you will need a ticket to enter but BCE is working on a workaround with the organizers.
Best Christmas Ever is behind the event designed for the whole family to participate. Best Christmas Ever partners with businesses and business leaders to help out families, who have a tough time making ends meet around Christmas time. The goal is to provide the "Best Christmas Ever" to those families.
If you know a family that needs help you can go to the website and nominate a family or get involved on a local level. Best Christmas Ever is located in Cloquet, for more info call (218) 310-5055
