A Unique Type Of K9 Pup Joins Wisconsin Police Department
When it comes to police K9 pups, we usually think of the ones going after the bad guys.
K9 officers work side-by-side with their handlers to sniff out drugs, aid in arrests, and help keep our communities safe.
Just recently, the Superior Police Department added a new K9 to the crew but this pup, named Millie will serve in a unique capacity for the City of Superior as a therapy dog.
What is a K9 therapy dog? As stated in the post; "Therapy K9 programs are becoming a popular tool for law enforcement agencies to build rapport, improve engagement, and bring better outcomes.".
A K9 therapy dog acts as another tool for the department to help out in various situations which could include therapy sessions or anywhere a pup could help out to bring calm to someone struggling.
K9 Millie was donated by Blueberry Cottage Labradoodles out of Osseo, Wi and after approximately a year of training will be ready to get to work for the department.
