Yesterdays game was the biggest football game in Minnesota Vikings history since the unforgettable NFC championship game back in early 2010, but unlike that game Christian Ponder did not force a pass into tight coverage, which would result in a interception.

Ponder was at a cross road in his career, either repeat what happened in Green Bay a few weeks ago, and have Vikings fans demanding for your immediate release, or play Robbin to Adrian Peterson Batman and help manage the Vikings into the playoffs.

What Ponder did yesterday does not scream M.V.P, or even resembles what Tom Brady or Drew Brees putout every Sunday, but what I saw yesterday was a vastly different Ponder then the one I witnessed playing in Lambeau at the beginning of this month. Ponder only threw for 235 yards, which was the 15th best of all 32 NFL starting quarterbacks who played yesterday, but the key is zero....zero interceptions.

Yesterdays game is the step forward everyone in Minnesota was hoping for, for Ponder. He stepped up, and out-dueled the defending MVP Aaron Rodgers. He stepped up when the game was on the line, he finally showed off his big arm that we have been hearing about for almost two years now. If Ponder shrunk under the pressure yesterday the Metrodome might have rioted, but instead Ponder gets a second chance at Lambeau this coming Saturday.

You can try to dissect yesterdays game to find flaws, and you will find some. Ponder made some throws that had Viking fans holding their breath, but even the best quarterbacks in the league will make mistakes from time-to-time. If Ponder could do what he did yesterday, all the hate he has gathered this year will quickly vanish.

Ponder grew up on national television yesterday, even though everyone was counting every yard Peterson was rushing for, it was Ponder who threw for three touchdowns, threw a ball that nearly hit the Metrodome roof, but magically fell into the arms of Jarius Wright, and it was Ponder who helped snap a five game losing streak to Green Bay.

You can also look at the big moment when Ponder hit Wright for the 66-yard completion as the moment when Ponder finally became a NFL quarterback, that completion was the longest this season, and Ponder hit Wright in stride. But the biggest moment was when there was less then two minutes left in the game, 3rd-in-11, tie game, and the Packers playing prevent defense, but Ponder still found Michael Jenkins for a 25-yard completion which put the Vikings in field goal range for the win.

Lets not get two excited, and plan to have number seven retired anytime soon, but instead this gives us hope that we might have our future quarterback, we might have the guy who will finally bring a Super Bowl win to Minnesota. Ponder now has to do what he did yesterday in January, because to get to February, he will need to win in January.
