Downtown Duluth Skywalk Open Again With New Guidelines

The downtown Duluth skywalk is officially open again - but it won't operate like it used to.

The system opened again Monday (May 18th) at 7 a.m. The skywalk will operate from 7 a.m. everyday to 7 p.m.

Things will be a little different if you plan to use the skywalk system due to COVID-19. Here's how the skywalk will now operate until further notice:

• There will be floor clings and posters to remind you to social distance and maintain a safe distance from others.
• There will be recommendations on staying safe amid the pandemic with tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
• Doors will be propped open between buildings in an effort to limit touching and the spreading of germs.

According to a press release from The City of Duluth and the Greater Downtown Council, business owners within the system are encourage to "increase the amount of cleaning and sanitizing" within their section of the skywalk. The skywalk system will also be cleaned as usual.

The entire skywalk system will be open for employees, residents and the like with the exception of the stretch from the Board of Trade building to the St. Louis County Government Services Building.

The skywalk system closed temporarily in late March of this year as concerns of COVID-19 ramped up in the area, along with a good chunk of downtown Duluth businesses.
