This might be the best news ever: it looks like one of our favorite haunted attractions ever is returning to the Northland!

If you live in the Twin Ports, chances are high that you have been to the famous Haunted Ship. It is unique in that it is a haunted house that takes place on a ship! Where else can you go to a haunted house on a ship?

It is a great haunted attraction and one of my favorites in the Northland and even in Minnesota! Sadly, it has been cancelled over the past few years, which makes the news that it is back this year even better.

The last time it was open was back in 2017. In June of 2018, it was announced that the attraction would not take place. A slip and seawall project was the reason for the cancellation, as the construction was behind schedule. The project made it impossible to access to the ship and therefore, the event had to be cancelled.

In 2019, many had high hopes that it would open again for the Halloween season but the construction put a damper on the event once again. The William A. Irvin was set to return to its spot by the first of October but that was pushed back, therefore impacting the event.

It was scrapped again in 2020 due to the pandemic. At the time, organizers at the Haunted Ship said there was no way they could hold the event in a way that was safe for their staff and Halloween lovers and therefore, decided to scrap it for another year.

Now, it looks like the event is happening in 2021 after a three year hiatus. I was curious about the status of the Haunted Ship this year so I reached out to organizers on Facebook. They said "yes" when asked if the event was happening this year and pointed me towards the schedule.

The Haunted Ship will officially be back on Thursday, October 7th. The event will take place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from that day forward. However, the event will be open on Wednesday, October 20th and Sunday, October 31st.

Event times will vary, with the haunt opening at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturdays and on Halloween, the event will open earlier at 4 p.m. You can see a full schedule on the Haunted Ship's website.

Tickets are available at the Haunted Ship and are $15 bucks per ticket. You can get a $2 discount if you bring a canned food item. College students can get in for $10 a ticket if you show your student identification. It should be noted that anyone under twelve will not be allowed in without a parent.

I can't wait to attend the Haunted Ship this year! Another popular hayride less than two hours from Duluth recently announced the haunt will be happening this year. The Haunted Ridge announced months ago that they were seeking volunteers for this year's event.
