A free, full week of activities are all set for the City of Duluth's Water Safety Week, which will provide plenty of family fun in Canal Park and on Park Point.

Water Safety Week begins Monday, July 19 and first up is the sand modeling contest on Park Point. Everyone is invited to participate and you can make your sand creation anywhere on Park Point Beach. Once it's completed, just share your creation on social media using and tag with #DuluthSandModelingContest 2021. You can also email a picture of it to parks@duluthmn.gov.  Everyone who does this will be entered to win prizes.

If you want to enter, but are lacking supplies to make your sand creation, there will be supplies available to use at the Beach House.  Just please make sure to return your supplies when you're done using them so that others can use them.

Winners of the sand modeling contest will be announced on Monday, July 26.

Another part of Duluth's Water Safety Week is the Water Safety Expo, which takes place on Tuesday, July 20. The event takes place from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Harbor Drive, behind the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

The expo will "highlight watercraft from the Duluth Fire Department, Duluth Police Department, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the St. Louis County Rescue Squad."  There will also be boat demonstrations and fun games provide by Duluth Parks and Recreation.  Come hungry as there will be food truck options available for purchase.

Duluth's Water Safety week will wrap up with a beach volleyball tournament, which will take place at the Park Point 4v4 sand volleyball courts. The tournament is Sunday, July 25 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.. Registration is $25 per team, with a registration deadline of 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21.
