Everything To Know For 3rd Annual North End Nightmare 5K In Superior Wisconsin
The 3rd annual North End Nightmare 5K is scheduled for this Saturday, October 30, the race will benefit the Young Athletes Foundation.
The race has traditionally been a part of the Superior Spooktacular. This year’s 5K course will start and end near-Earth Rider Brewery in Superior’s North End There will be several "scare" zones with different haunted attractions and spooky surprises. Racers are encouraged to dress in costume for the race, which has quickly become the area’s premier Halloween-themed running event.
After having a COVID changed 2020, this year's North End Nightmare returns to its full in-person capacity and will be using a traditional mass start at 5:00 p.m. There is a kids race called the Spider Dash starting at 4:00 p.m., it's a shorter race and open to kids 14 & younger.
The race entry fee is $35 for adults ($40 on race day) and $15 for kids under the age of 12. Those interested can register online through Thursday, October 28, or in-person at the following times and locations:
Friday, October 29: 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. – Grandma’s Marathon Office (351 Canal Park Drive, Duluth)
Saturday, October 30: 12:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. – Earth Rider Brewery (1715 N. 3rd Street, Superior)

All people that dress up can enter the North End Nightmare 5K costume contest. The top three groups or individuals will receive gift cards from one of our local running store partners --- $100 first place, $ 50-second place, $25 third place.
Something new this year is the North End Nightmare 5K will start and finish near-Earth Rider Brewery in Superior. Participants will receive free entry (by showing their race bib) after the race to Earth Rider, where Big Wave Dave and the Ripples are scheduled as the featured live musical act.
A new racecourse this year features nine different “scare zones,” all of which will have Halloween-themed decorations and some of which will have live actors in costume and character.
Free parking will be available on race day for participants on a first-come, first-served basis at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation facility located at 1701 N. 4th Street in Superior. There will be traffic advisories in the area of Banks Ave and 3rd street. That road will be closed by 3 pm.
Tower Avenue will close between 5th Street and 6th Street, including the intersections, from approximately 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on race day. Tower Avenue will remain fully accessible north of 5th Street and south of 6th Street for the duration of the event.
The thing is, there is a race happening, so you may have to find a way around this area. There will be other closings to make way for the race.
