Fake GoFundMe Pages Being Set Up For Jake Patterson

If you're on Facebook and see a 'GoFundMe' page set up to benefit Jake Patterson, the suspect in the Jayme Closs case, please be aware that it is not a legitimate page.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office used their Facebook page to post the following message in regard to this matter:

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is getting reports of "GoFundMe" pages being set up to benefit the suspect in the Barron County case. These are being set up by using fake or hacked Facebook accounts, in particular, and of concern to us, the use of the account of a young Gordon girl, who is now receiving online threats. These incidents will be investigated and violators prosecuted. In the meantime please stop harassing this child.

It's unfortunate that there are people out there who will use tragic situations in an attempt to benefit financially and place innocent people, like the young girl in Gordon, in harms way.

Please spread the work and encourage everyone to do their due diligence and use common sense.
