Adopting a dog is a great way to make a huge difference in the life of a pup.  Many get abandoned or are taken away from owners who aren't fit to be puppy parents, and at the end of the day just need a loving home.

You of course can go out and spend a lot of money on a purebred dog and if you are looking for a hunting dog I can understand that.  Even along those lines though, if you look enough at various dog rescues, you might just find that hunting dog or the breed you really want.  After helping to foster dogs, I can tell you that bad owners can have just about any breed that could end up with a rescue.  So I'm a fan of the "adopt don't shop" line of thinking.

Wags and Kisses Dog Rescue is going to be hosting a doggy adoption event on Saturday, September 11th.  It will be from 11:00AM-3:00PM at PetSmart in Duluth, located at 1732 Mall Drive.  There will be many dogs to visit with and see if one of them might be a good fit to join your family.  The dog pictured is named Blu and she is about three years old.  She's good around kids and other dogs, enjoys walks like almost every pup, is kennel trained and listens very well.

Even if you aren't in the market to adopt a new family member, it's at least something you can do with the kids.  Stop on out and say hello, you just might fall in love with one of them.
