The Duluth area has some great local restaurants and one of the best for breakfast, lunch, and brunch is the Vanilla Bean Restaurant.

The Vanilla Bean Restaurant has been a Northland favorite, serving delicious food from their Duluth location at Mount Royal, 1608 Woodland Avenue, and from 812 7th Avenue in Two Harbors.

Their online description of what they have to offer is spot on: "Wake up your taste buds today with a home-cooked meal at the Vanilla Bean Restaurant in Two Harbors and Duluth! Whether you choose our signature Oven-Baked Omelets, Swedish Pancakes with Lingonberries, Bacon Wrapped Mini Doughnut Bloody Mary, or Award-Winning Soups and Sandwiches you’ll find great flavor, value, and service"

However, on Saturday, February 10, it was announced that one Vanilla Bean location would soon be closing, but there is a silver lining to be found in that announcement:

After 6 great years, we wanted to let you know Sunday, February 25th will be our last day in business at Vanilla Bean Duluth. We were approached by two young entrepreneurs looking for a restaurant space of their own and have since worked out an arrangement for them to take over our space and bring their new, exciting vision to life. When they are ready to announce their plans, we will make sure to share and give them all the support they will need.

They go on to say that the landmark restaurant in Two Harbors "is still going strong" and will continue to operate as it has for almost 26 years. Also, all Vanilla Bean gift cards will continue to be honored at their Two Harbors location.

Owners Jason Vincent and Jeff Anderson added that closing the Duluth location will allow them to better focus on the Vanilla Bean Restaurant in Two Harbors and their two businesses, the Boat Club Restaurant located in Duluth's Fitger's Brewery Complex, and JayBee Travel.

It'll be interesting to see what new restaurant moves into the Mount Royal location, but until then you have until February 25 to bid the Vanilla Bean Restaurant in Duluth a fond farewell.
