It seems fitting that the same week that 'Avengers: Infinity War' is released, Lake Superior College is hosting their 15th annual Robot Wars.

This Thursday, April 26, robots with names like Wreck-n-Wheel, Wedgy and Iron Butterfly will be battling it out at Lake Superior College's Duluth Downtown Center, located at 120 N. Second Avenue West.  The event runs from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

What makes the event even better is that it showcases student-built and engineered robots battling in a one-on-one tournament-style format.  According to their press release, some robots will use moving blades, some will use heavy drop-down hammers and some will be relying on speed.

Robot Wars is ultimately a tournament where the winner is the last robot standing.

Lake Superior College Integrated Manufacturing students will battle in a double elimination tournament. Regional high schools, including Mesabi East, Cromwell/Wright and Marshall will also battle with a total of approximately 14 robots competing for survival.
