It was announced over the weekend that former Green Bay Packers quarterback and free agent Matt Flynn finds himself nesting with the Seattle Seahawks on a three year, $26 million deal with $10 million guaranteed. Is this another Kevin Kolb overpayment, or will Flynn get the Seahawks soaring?

Entering last season, Matt Flynn was a fairly unknown name in the ranks of NFL quarterbacks. The Packers backup did show up as a blip on the radar after putting up a fight in a 2010 game against the Patriots in which Aaron Rodgers was out on an injury. Although the Packers lost 31-27, Flynn threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns, keeping the Pack in the game.

Fast forward to the 2011 season in a throw away game between the Packers and Detroit Lions, and Flynn took the field again as Green Bay rested Aaron Rodgers after securing the top seed in the NFC. Six touchdowns and 480 yards later, Flynn was being heralded as the next big quarterback to come out of the Packers system and questions started popping up about what would happen as Flynn's contract was up at the end of the season. The big story of free agency was shaping up to be where Matt Flynn would land - Enter Peyton Manning. Manning's recovery, release from the Colts, and entry into the free agent pool had every team in the NFL needing quarterback help competing for Manning and putting Flynn in the back seat.

Now that the dust is settling, the quarterback picture is clearing quickly as Manning seems to have found a home and Flynn got his payday looking to replace Tarvaris Jackson. Manning's reported deal is massive, and maybe should be considering his proven record. Flynn, however, had only two opportunities to prove himself; and although he offered solid performances on both occasions, is it worth the $10 million guaranteed he gets in his new deal? He's sure to be an upgrade over the mediocre "T-Jack", but time will only tell if he is as good as his game against the Lions made him look.

Do you think Matt Flynn will be a good starter?
