In my experience many older appliances like fridges and freezers had a much longer life than newer ones.  "Expensive or not, they just don't make them like they used to" is a sentiment I have heard many times at certain appliance stores.

While some fridges and freezers might be thirty years or older still humming away while doing their job, they generally aren't as energy friendly as more modern versions.

In an effort to keep old appliances out of landfills, or from just being dumped on the side of the road, Minnesota Power is offering not only some coin for them, but to pick them up too.

This is an opportunity to get rid of an old fridge or freezer taking up space and potentially help the environment too.  Plus, in addition to the picking the old beasts up, they will float you twenty-five bucks too.

When they are there, you won't get a recycle reward for these items, but they will gladly also take window air conditioners, dehumidifiers and mini fridges.  The simple online request only takes a minute or two to fill out, and you can get all setup for the free pickup process.

Keep in mind, you need to be a Minnesota Power customer with a valid account number to submit your request, and the rebate check will be issued to the primary account holder named on the bill.  Clear out those older and less efficient items, get some money, and help the environment with proper recycling.
