Minnesota Wild Force Game 7 in Series Against Colorado Avalanche with 5-2 Win [PHOTOS]

The Minnesota Wild faced a "win or stay home" situation in game 6 of the Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche as they hit the ice Monday night. With the Avalanche leading the series 3-2, Minnesota would need to rely on the energy from the fans at the sold out Xcel Energy Center.

Zach Parise opened the game with an early goal and Mikael Granlund added to the first period lead, before having the 2-0 advantage cut in half by a shorthanded goal from Paul Stastny.

Colorado tied the game with a power play goal in the second period, marking the only score of the period. Parise found the net again at the 13:31 mark to give Minnesota the lead again, forcing Patrick Roy's hand into another empty-net situation. In previous games in the series, the Avalanche had been successful in empty net attempts to even the score and force overtime, but game 6 offered a different outcome. Jason Pominville and Marco Scandella both scored empty net goals, giving the Wild a 5-3 win and forcing game 7 at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Game 7 will take place Wednesday night at 8:30 central time. The winner will go on to play the Chicago Blackhawks, who beat the St. Louis Blues 4-2 in that series.
