MnDOT Warns Of Heavy Traffic Downtown Duluth February 15 +16

A combination of events this weekend near downtown Duluth are expected to cause traffic issues and the Minnesota Department of Transportation wants to make sure everyone is prepared.

The UMD Bulldogs will have hockey games both Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16 at Amsoil Arena.  Meanwhile, right next door at the DECC, the Duluth Boat, Sports, Travel & RV Show will be going on through the weekend.

In addition, the Duluth Comedy Fest is both Friday and Saturday nights at the NorShor Theater.

Because of these combined events, heavy traffic on I-35 and on local streets is expected both February 15 and February 16.

In regard to the events at around Amsoil Arena, MnDOT has the following parking recommendations to avoid congestion:

• Park downtown and cross I-35 using the skyway.
• Park in Canal Park and walk to the events. The slip bridge is open to foot traffic

The also suggest everyone plan on arriving early for all events in the area or allow for extra travel and parking time.
