In an update to a story we originally brought you back in July, the National Bank of Commerce has finalized and completed their merge with Republic Bank.  News sources are reporting that the final steps were taken as of December 9 - creating one financial institution to serve their customers.

The process has taken many steps since it was originally reported.  In September, the Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency gave federal regulatory approval.  That approval finally closed at the end of October.

The move brings together customers of the existing National Bank of Commerce, blending in the customers from Republic Bank - to do business as NBC.  Following the merger, the National Bank of Commerce now operates 12 branches throughout the Northland- including six that used to be Republic Bank locations/

Headquarters for National Bank of Commerce is 1127 Tower Avenue in Superior.  They also operate a second Superior location at 2822 Tower Avenue.  In addition, there are four locations in Duluth (1314 East Superior Street, 306 West Superior Street, 4929 Decker Road, 300 Bristol Street, and 1619 Woodland Avenue), and one location each in Esko, Hermantown, Hibbing, Poplar, and Solon Springs.
