It's that time of year again to get out of the house and meet your neighbors! The 34th Annual National Night Out is a great reason to get outside, have fun and eat some hotdogs.  This event is more than just stuffing your face with pork products, it's about coming together as a community for crime prevention. The event is sponsored nationally by the National Association of The Town Watch and locally by the Duluth Police Department.

Most locations have a potluck style dinner. Others are offering bounce houses for the kiddos. Some have music, and most have some sort of games and fun activities. These outings are held by Churches, Community Centers, Apartment groups, and individual community members.

Last year more than 60 block parties were registered with the police department. Nationally an estimated 38 million people take part in this event each year, with over 16,000 communities participating.
