Old Farmer’s Almanac: Temps Will Be Below Average In October
The Old Farmer's Almanac has made their predictions for the month of October and I have to say, they are definitely welcome.
Before you shudder at the thought that winter is basically here in the Northland, take a look at their predictions. October doesn't look too bad - or too cold. Here's what the Old Farmer's Almanac is forecasting:
- From October 1st through the 9th, we can expect showers and cool conditions, according to their predictions.
- Things will take a turn for the better beginning on October 10th and continuing until the 14th. Forecasters are predicting sunshine and mild conditions.
- Mid-October through the 21st, we can expect a period of rain followed by sunshine. Eastern parts of the forecast region will be mild while the western part can expect chilly conditions.
- October 22nd through the 31st will bring sunshine and warm temperatures.
The Old Farmer's Almanac is also predicting a below average month in terms of temperature, which means it may be a bit chilly at times. Our average predicted temperature is around 53 degrees, which is six degrees below our average. Therefore, while it may be a bit chilly at times, it could definitely be a lot worse in the Northland so we will take it!
The Old Farmer's Almanac makes long-term weather predictions by region. Our region includes Duluth and the surrounding areas in the Northland. Not everyone believes in the methodology behind the forecasts.
This forecast differs a bit from that of the National Weather Service for the start of the month. NWS Duluth recently said to expect a warmer-than-average start to the month through the middle of October. Either way, it is inevitable that winter is coming.
