Vikings wide receiver tweeted a comment yesterday that made many fans shutter. The tweet said that he just found out he is in need of shoulder surgery over the offseason. At first glance, this looks like a huge blow to the team's hopes of recovering from the lowly 3-13 season fans are trying to forget. The spring announcement of a surgical need is also eerily familiar after former Viking wideout Sidney Rice made the same kind of announcement about his hip surgery.

The good news is that the surgery will be minor and Harvin subsequently tweeted that he plans to be ready for OTAs. Since the tweets, information has come out saying it will be relatively minor arthroscopic surgery to fix a shoulder issue.

The versatile Harvin ended last season with 87 receptions for 967 yards and 6 touchdowns, high-water marks across the board for his three seasons in the NFL.
