One of Duluth's most popular rental and programming spaces has been forced to close, impacting anyone with a reservation to use the space for their wedding reception or other event or activity.

The City of Duluth has announced that Duluth Heights Community Center, located at 33 West Mulburry Street, has been forced to close their main floor rental area.

The building is very old and has developed a leaking roof which has made the interior rental spaces in the facility unsafe for use by the public.

The City says that any groups or individuals that have an existing reservation will be contacted by Parks and Recreation to find an alternate location.

This will not impact those using the facility for hockey, as access will remain in the basement level of the building.

One of the active programs, Play Gym, will no longer be meeting as they examine the program and determine the best location for it long term.

Anyone with questions or concerns should call 218-730-4300.
