After 13 seasons in the NFL, 34 year-old wideout Randy Moss appears to be calling it quits. Moss's agent, Joel Segal, reported Monday that there were offers on the table; but after weighing the options, retirement was the route of choice.

Moss, who once said "I play when I want to play," found himself nomadically roaming the NFL last year. Only a few games into the 2010 season, Moss said he didn't feel wanted by the Patriots organization, which prompted a trade and homecoming to the struggling Minnesota Vikings. Hopes soared that the pairing of Randy and Brett Favre would turn the Vikings' season around, but after a lackluster performance and off the field drama, the coaching staff released number 84. Moss went on to play the remainder of the season with the Tennessee Titans, who only started Moss in 4 of the last 8 games of the season and opted not to sign him for the 2011 season.

Moss ended the 2010 season with a career low of 28 receptions for 393 yards and only 5 touchdowns; a stark contrast his career averages of 73 receptions for 1,142.9 yards and 11.7 touchdowns per season.

After a sub-par 2010 performance, reports surfaced that Moss had a chip on his shoulder, that he had been working out extensively, and that he had something to prove. Despite these reports, the attitude issues that Moss has displayed over the years have undoubtedly impacted his remaining value as a veteran wide receiver in the NFL. Even with a reduced value and an announcement of retirement, one can't wonder if he is really done. Thoughts quickly turn to another former Viking and NFL legend who had a rough 2009 season with the New York Jets, declared retirement, and came back with another team to have one of the best seasons of his career.
